Mark
Mark has a passion for animal welfare and the future of vegan education, with an emphasis on progressing ethical veganism, growing food and planting trees, which will have a positive impact on wildlife. Mark has a wealth of experience and over 19 years of dedication to animal care and the promotion of veganism. Mark has a wealth of knowledge and lots of incredible stories, which he shares on our VIP guided tours and even at the Animal Rights March in London 2019. He is very excited about the future of the sanctuary and hopes that you will all support his dedication to ensure that we can continue to provide a loving home for all our residents and to be an important part in creating a new, more compassionate World. He is the owner and coordinator of FRIEND working together with Mandy to create real change here at the Sanctuary.
Mandy
Mandy is passionate about promoting change through education. Her background is working as a Storyteller and as a Forest School leader. She has a wealth of experience growing food and working sustainably , she ran organic growing classes for preschool aged children for over 3 years. During this time Mandy realised that many of these children had no idea where their food came from. As a passionate ethical Vegan She realised the importance of everyone gaining an awareness of the true origin and true cost of their food. At FRIEND Mandy works with everyone but especially with our elder residents and those needing extra care. She is co-ordinator at FRIEND working together with Mark to meet the needs of our residents for whom FRIEND is their life long home.

Through the implementation of Permaculture based design principles together Mark and Mandy both hope to create a working transitional model at FRIEND of a new compassionate way of life where all can flourish free from harm. To demonstrate how we can live side by side with animals in harmony, growing plants to nourish us all.

Our work at FRIEND is only made possible by the huge dedication and love of our friends and volunteers who give their time and talents to making FRIEND the amazing place it is today. We have an amazing core team that are the backbone of the sanctuary.
We have enjoyed the ongoing support of the amazing work parties that come on the first and third Saturday of the month . Our regular weekly volunteers without whom we could not offer the high level of care our animals deserve. You are amazing and we thank you all for your dedication over the years.
